How I Trained Myself to Wake Up Early? [Adventure!]

After entering the workforce at the age of 22, I was accustomed to the working hours of 8am to 5pm where I would wake up at 7:30am, bath, get dressed and drive to work. Malaysian or even other country may think that 30mins prep time is absurd but for my case, it was EZ af because my drive to work takes 10 mins and without traffic 90% of the time. #GRIN #LUCKYME

And so this habit took place for 2 years until I realized I do not have time for exercise [Or am I just looking for excuses 😉 ]  ..

Then one day I decided to wake up early, exercise then go to work after reading “No Excuses” by Brian Tracy. It was definitely a great book that enlightened me to change my bad habits and replace them with good ones. Annnnnd the first one would be getting up early!!

How IT did not work.. [Enlightenment TIME]

The first 2 weeks was awful because my alarm echoed in my room at 530 am. It was so hard to get out of bed. But gradually, I was able to wake up at 6 am quite automatically.

That was progress, I thought to myself but I went back to sleep again and that process went on for a month.

P.S. I did not exercise even though I woke up at 6am.. Didn’t I tell myself to wake up at 5:30am?!

There must be something wrong, I cannot seem to do anything even though I woke up early! Then it dawned on me, how the hell did I woke up at 5:30 am when I was in primary and secondary school? Why can’t I now? Then I remembered a friend who told me she had no choice but to wake up early for school!

The reason for not executing them early in the morning is due to the fact that I have no solid reason or plan to do it. I got back to sleep the moment I woke up because I cannot brain myself to do anything.

Why it didn’t work? I HAD NO PLAN!

My Morning Ritual
Not Illustration, this is really my routine!

So I changed a little bit by writing down what I need to do in the morning at 5:30am.

IT WORKED! When I had a plan

Why it worked? It is because I do not need to think about what I need to do, I just do then slowly from doing these routines, I wake up. I had been following this for a week now and it feels refreshing the whole day. I am writing this because it freaking works!

How I trained to wake up early?

In summary, we need to wake up with a Routine!

Routine doesn’t need the brain to think about what we should do. That is something we do not have in the morning, #BrainPower..

Get a plan written at night before bed, wake up following the plan without thinking..

WALLAH! You wake up at 5:30am in the morning.

Successful people are simply those with successful habits.
